We recently hosted an AMA with Listen Token, on August 30th at 3 PM UTC. Many of you might have participated or many of not. But we make sure no one missed out from the knowledge shared by Andrew Moore, Head of Listen Token Community. So here we are up with the AMA transcript, for those who missed the live session, this blog post will be a saver & feeder of knowledge for them.

Introduction Questions Asked By Team BlockTalks!

Q1. Could you please introduce Listen Token to our community in layman’s term?

Ans — $LSTN is a ‘for good’ token that will help fund the Listen Campaign to help the world’s 1 billion vulnerable and disadvantaged children. The Listen Campaign is a global and annual fundraising campaign that will include over 100 of the world’s most recognised actors, musicians, artists and writers, and through our partnerships with some of the world’s biggest broadcasters will reach an audience of 500 million people.

The main event of each year’s campaign will be the global fundraising broadcast “Listen Live”, which in 2022 is being held in the The LA Coliseum, one of largest stadium in the world, on June 20th, 21st and 22nd, which will also be broadcast to 100s of millions around the world.

Q2. What are the advantages of Listen Token to other alternatives in the Blockchain field?

Ans — I would say the biggest thing that makes Listen Token different is that it is seeking to help the world’s 1 billion most vulnerable and disadvantaged children — a number that has likely grown by 20% since the Pandemic. I haven’t seen any other projects with a mission like that ❤️

The second thing that makes Listen Token very different is the man behind the Listen Campaign: Tony Hollingsworth…

Tony has produced nine of the world’s largest global broadcast events and campaigns, and EACH of them reached audiences of over 500m people.

These included one that called for Nelson Mandela’s release (Nelson Mandela’s 70th Birthday Tribute), one that celebrated the fall of the Berlin Wall and the reunification of the two Germanies (The Wall — Live in Berlin), and one that celebrated Mandela’s release (Nelson Mandela: An International Tribute to a Free South Africa).

So Listen Token has a mission everyone can rally behind, and the leadership with the experience, credibility and connections to make it happen. It’s really exciting! :)

Q3. What are the major milestones Listen Token achieved so far & what are in the future pipeline?

Ans — Tony has already secured media partnerships with some of the largest broadcasters in the world. In the US our largest media partner is ABC/Disney, in India it is Zee TV, in sub-saharan Africa it is Viacom, and in the MENA it is DMI. In October the ‘Listen Collectibles Auction and Shop’ is launching, where we’ll be auctioning off NFTs made from Tony Hollingsworth’s media archive taken from his past nine global broadcast events (a few of them I just mentioned), and these auctions will take place every few weeks until we get to the end of March when we announce the stars involved in The Listen Campaign, and then we will start to auction off NFTs from their contributions. These are top film stars, music stars, visual artists and novelists — 80 that are famous around the world and then we will add 20 that are big in India, Africa, Latin America and the Middle East.

As the campaign roles out we will ask the community to also create for the campaign too and many of these pieces will also be made into NFTs, and gain exposure to 100s of millions of people.

Questions Asked on Twitter For Listen Token Team!

Q1. You comment that in a decade the Listen campaign should provide $1 billion worth of grants for children’s projects. Could you tell us a little more specifically about what kind of children’s projects you hope to support with such a large amount of resources?

Ans — Well, the Listen Campaign does the communications job that the many children’s charities that are doing great work around the world cannot do — getting the world to Listen to the problems faced by 1 billion (before Covid) very vulnerable and disadvantaged children, and we celebrate the exemplary, proven, scalable and replicable solutions that these charities are already doing. The Listen Charity will give grants to 75 of these children’s projects, many of which have already been selected but are going through the last stages of due diligence, and they will be announced in January, February and March of 2022.

Q2. According to its whitepaper, the campaign runs 52 weeks a year and will reach an audience of 500 million people through digital, broadcast and traditional media. I would like to know, how do they reach so many media and through which platforms will they be advertised?

Ans — Well first I think the first big ‘how’ is the man behind the Listen Campaign: Tony Hollingsworth. As I said, he has already reached audiences of this size many times in the past — each time reaching audience of over 500m people, and that was back before the internet and social media. Our partnerships with some of the biggest broadcasters in the world is the second ‘how’, and the third is the hundred + global stars we will be working with each year. We’re already in talks with 80 of the world’s biggest names who have expressed an interest in taking part. All of that combined with Tony’s expertise, experience, credibility and connections, is a pretty exciting combination.

Q3. Researching the project I would like to know more about your auction and purchase of collectible items and how will be the process for the community to participate in this auction? How important will the native token be in this auction?

Ans — So the first Listen NFTs that will go on sale in the “Listen Collectibles Auction and Shop” (at the beginning of October) are from Tony Hollingsworth’s digital media archive from the past nine global broadcast events he produced that I just mentioned. This archive includes special live performances from about 200 major musicians including Stevie Wonder, Eric Clapton, David Bowie, Whitney Houston, Mary J Blige, BB King, Sting, Bob Dylon, Roger Waters, Dire Straits, Bee Gees, George Michael, Phil Collins — the list goes on and on and on. We will be starting the auction of these special NFTs at the beginning of October and will carry on until March 2022…

So, where does the $LSTN come in? Hold your breath, because we’re diving in…

  • The right to bid for the Star Creative Artist’s NFTs in the monthly auctions (which are only open to $LSTN holders), and the more tokens you hold, the better access you get.
  • - ‘Silver Badge’ status for every 250,000 to 499,999 $LSTN staked for 30 days, entitling the user to a five percent discount on their purchases in the Listen Collectibles Auction and Shop.
  • - ‘Gold Badge’ status for every 500,000 + $LSTN staked for 30 days, entitling the user to a ten percent discount on their purchases in the Listen Collectibles Auction and Shop.
  • - The right to vote for the winners of The Listen Creative Arts Awards.
  • - The accrual of Listen Points.
  • Listen Points are the loyalty reward system of the Listen Campaign and provide each holder with exclusive benefits and prize entries, including discounts on tickets, merchandise and Pay Per View streaming.
  • Users who “stake” 5,000 $LSTN on the official Auction and Shop site will earn 100 Listen points per month (per 5,000 $LSTN staked).
  • Users who purchase Collectibles in the Auction Site and Shop will be rewarded with Listen Points.
  • - Automatic entry into a lottery to win two “Private View” tickets to watch the whole of “Listen Live LA” at the LA Coliseum involving at least 28 Star Musician, 12 Film Stars and world leaders on Monday, June 20th, 2022, whilst dancing and having a banquet on the field, with the stars, their friends and families.
  • - A free ticket for the global streaming of Listen Live Plus on June 22nd 2022 if the token holder has staked over 10,000 $LSTN for the 30 days preceding June 15th 2022.

Q4. Can you mention any of the artists that are in talks to release their NFTs? Among their NFTs could be exclusive content such as exclusive songs or lyrics? How did the idea of the Listen campaign come about?

Ans —

But as well as NFTs from these 200 major musicians (from Tony’s digital archive from his past nine historic broadcast events), the first year the annual campaign will involve 160 major creative artists from film, music, art and literature — 80 stars who are famous around the world, and 20 who are big in each of India, Africa, MENA and Latin America. They will be creating or performing especially for the campaign (because they support our mission) and we will make NFTs from their contributions and Auction them off regularly.

As for how the idea of the Listen Campaign came about, Tony actually shared this story in a recent interview with Business Insider… so rather than me do a hash job of remembering it, let me just go grab it and copy/paste it here so you can hear it in Tony’s words :) One sec…

Tony speaking with Business Insider: “I was listening to a radio program where they were interviewing a mother in Africa whose baby had just died of diarrhea, the rehydration sachet would cost just 10 cents, they didn’t have it and the baby died. My baby was on my shoulder, and if he coughed the wrong way, I could have called a doctor. It just seemed to me to be such an obvious inequity that I should really look at that area, helping vulnerable and disadvantaged children, much harder.”

And that’s what inspired him to create what became the Listen Campaign ❤️

Q5. Something that caught my attention about the project is that you will be holding an event called “Allocation Mining Event” so could you give us more details about this and how users will be able to participate? What will be the potential benefits for users who participate?

Ans — Sure. So, Listen Token ($LSTN) is launching on Launchpool at the end of September with something called an AME, which stands for ‘Allocation Mining Event’. We have allocated 10% (100 million $LSTN) of the total supply of LSTN (1 billion $LSTN) to the Launchpool AME, and to be one of the first in the Listen Token community to get your hands on some you need to hold Launchpool’s native token $LPOOL, and then when the AME kicks off you stake your LPOOL on the Listen Token AME and are then given the ability to purchase $LSTN tokens of an equal value to the $LPOOL you staked. So if you stake $100 worth of LPOOL, you will be able to buy $100 worth of $LSTN. When it’s all over, you will receive your $LSTN tokens (wahoo!) and also your staked $LPOOL. I hope I explained that properly!

Q1. Anyone can create for The Listen Campaign. They call them citizen artists. They submit their contributions, which provides interesting and perhaps beautiful and powerful content to help the campaign. Does the artist have to meet any requirements to be selected? How do you choose the artists to participate? Who chooses?

Ans — Yes anyone can create for the campaign and their content will be used to grow the campaign. If they enter their art, music, video, story into The Listen Creative Arts Awards they have the opportunity to win prizes and if they get 1st prize they are shown to an audience of 100s of millions. First the community vote, then the $LSTN token holders vote, then the stars choose the finalists. This means that some completely unknown artists could win and have their careers launched to 100s of millions :)

Q2. I could read on your website, that In a decade, the Listen campaign should achieve three different goals, but will these fundraising goals really be through donations? Or only with a percentage of the transaction fees?

Ans — The Listen Campaign’s goals all culminate in helping the 1 billion (and more since covid) vulnerable and disadvantaged children around the world. We will do this by creating a global campaign of many different parts — over 62 social media items, an influencer campaign, two TV/Streaming series, two major promotions, a feature documentary, live events, a global streaming event and a global broadcast event. As part of this we have the “Listen Collectibles Auction and Shop” where people can buy NFTs. This income supports the campaign which asks the public to give donations, and we expect an average of $100m in donations per year.

But raising donations is not the only way the campaign will help children. The Listen Campaign brings awareness to the amazing work that the children’s charity sector is already doing — getting the world to really ‘Listen’ to the problems faced by those 1 billion very vulnerable and disadvantaged children, and after listening and understanding the solutions that already exist, we celebrate those solutions, and through the Listen Charity, channel funds to them so we can help scale the great work they are already doing.

Q3. Why should I participate in the AME?

Ans — Well, other than being one of the first to hold a fixed-supply token that will promoted to hundreds of millions of people around the world, you will be able to say that you contributed the international campaign that helped the world’s most vulnerable and disadvantaged children :)

Q4. Is this Listen’s first year? Do you plan to do this every other year? Can the $LSTN token be purchased at other times of the year or only at times close to the campaign and auction? Do you plan to have different partners and artists each year? What will you do the rest of the months of the year? Will there be interaction with the community the rest of the year?

Ans — Lots of good questions wrapped up into one :)

Past Listen Campaigns have involved the likes of Samual L Jackson, Natalie Portman and Kurt Russell, but this is the first time we have incorporated NFTs and cryptocurrency to involve the community in a much more powerful way.

And yes, this is now an annual campaign, and we will be working with over 100 of the world’s biggest stars each year.

$LSTN will be available on decentralised exchanges like Uniswap soon after the public IDO will be taking place in October, and then as the campaign progresses it will get listed on major centralised exchanges.

And the interaction with the community will never end. We’re all in this together, and the show isn’t over until there are no more vulnerable and disadvantaged children left to help!

Q5. As regards the Listen Collectibles Auction and Shop, How often Will the Star Creative Artist’s NFT be auctioned, will it be a weekly or monthly? Hope Each of the Star Collectibles will be highly unique and of great quality or how will you ensure that only the best of the citizen art will be sold in the Listen Collectibles Auction and Shop?

Ans — The auctions will take place every few weeks. The collectibles will be very unique — sometimes one of a kind. As for the quality we have been hard at work digitally remastering Tony’s media archive, which includes some really special moments from nine of the most historic music events ever held. The NFTs will be really special.

As for the Citizen Artist’s NFTs we add to the Auction & Shop, that will be after they have been successfully voted in by the community, $LSTN holders, and the stars themselves — so the Citizen Artists that get their creative work made into NFTs will have produced something everyone loves :)
