We recently hosted an AMA with myMessage, on December 13th at 2PM UTC. Many of you might have participated or many of not. But we make sure no one missed out from the knowledge shared by Mark Kamphuis, myMessage DAO Committee Member So here we are up with the AMA transcript, for those who missed the live session, this blog post will be a saver & feeder of knowledge for them.

Q1. Could you please introduce myMessage to our community in layman’s term?
Ans — myMessage is a simple and easy to use platform for messaging, and light data storage, and also a decentralized Reddit like platform with privacy thread option and a paid content economics built-in, supporting evolving applications including a decentralized Thread-reply bulletin board, messaging dApp, developer tools & SDKs and Data Portal to provide encrypted data feedings to Web3 applications with quantum-resistant level of security.
We are building on 4 blockchains: Zilliqa, Avalanche, Polygon and BSC. So multi-chain approach basically.
Q2. What are the advantages of myMessage to the other alternatives in the Blockchain field?
Ans —So far there is no direct competition tbh, the closest we can get is Arweave for our Phase 1 product.
Our advantages are simple to use, don’t need to remember any txid, private key, etc. We store all data on-chain and do not separate the data like Arweave.
Q3. What are the major milestones myMessage achieved so far & what are in the future pipeline?
Ans — We have successfully deployed our testnet on Zilliqa since February this year, and recently we revamped the UI to make it more intuitive and user friendly.
Our aim is to make it zero friction for users to use our platform. Current focus is the next phase, which is Reddit-like decentralized platform, with the option of private thread and paid content economics built in.
That is interesting, I knew that MyMessage got grant from Zilliqa but not knew that from Polygon too. Yep. This was announced only a couple of weeks ago. ZILHive grant was in April this year I believe.
1.) Tipping — our token is designed to be used for tipping due to many decimal points. When you give tip of say 100 tokens, it is better than 0.001 token.
2.) Paid content model — if someone with insider news/info, technical analysis, they can create a place for their content where user need to pay to view.
And obviously there are things like staking etc…

Q1. If I lose my data in myMessage, how can I recover it? It is really possible and it is so easy thanks to a search engine, what do you mean by this? Do you have a mechanism or option to save the data in the cloud?
Ans — Once it is stored on the blockchain, your data will never be lost. It is permanent, immutable, no one can delete or change the content and it will be time stamped.
Q2. You promise a high level of security for all our data, but what would happen if myMessage goes down or disappears? Even in that scenario would there be a way to recover our documents? Even if it is “DeFi” we would still depend on you.
Ans — It’s is very easy to find your data later on: just make sure when you send the message you add a keyword or hash tag that you can remember. Use the keywords to search your message when you need it, even encrypted, you can retreive it in no time. 🙂
Even if myMessage goes down or disappears — which of course we strongly believe this won’t happen — you still can search and retrieve your data in the future without a problem. Your data is stored on-chain, and we will open our source code once it is completed; so you can simply download from github and run from your laptop to search your message in case our server is down/blocked/banned.
Q3. The only way to use your application is through a computer? Is it not possible to log in from a mobile device or tablet? Do you plan to add myMessage to the PlayStore or AppStore in the future? Will your application be totally global?
Ans —No, you can use our app via laptop, or mobile app. We will be launching our mobile app next year.
We plan to add myMessage mobile app in PlayStore and AppStore next year. Yes, since our app is fully decentralized, it is made for global use.
Q4. I see that myMessage has compatibility with several blockchains, however, your main blockchain is Zilliqa, which I had never heard of. What benefits does this blockchain offer to myMessage and its users? Which blockchains do you plan to partner with in the future?
Ans — Zilliqa is the first blockchain that we support, but we will also support other blockchain such as BSC, Avalanche and Polygon. Bascially what we need is low fees and high capacity to grow our platfom.

Q1. How powerful is your team and what experience and background does your team have?
Ans — I think we all have a decent background in crypto and blockchain. Multi-disciplinairy as well: development, security, marketing, operations..
Q2. Using blockchain technology is indeed very cheap and safer and faster, but if suddenly a hacking attack from hackers will threaten data safety, how can MyMessage minimize this from happening? and how is the security system implemented in MyMessage so that security is maintained?
Ans — Our Lead Developer (and founder) Clement is an expert in this field. He has worked in the blockchain space for years now, so he knows his stuff. He is actually the one who came up with the idea of adding quantum-resistant level of security to myMessage. Audits will of course also be in place to protect us and our users.
Q3. Do you have a whitepaper? if yes please share it with us and secondly are you working to AUDIT your project, to make its security more secure and reliable?

Q4. DeFi products and services are often difficult to understand so how will your platform enable people who are not cryptocurrency savvy to understand these products and services? Could myMessage be an educational engine and social referent of the DeFi space?
Ans — Education is key for getting adoption. So we’ll focus on making everything really easy for people to understand. Good UX also plays a very important role in this, along with things like explainer video’s and clear instructions / FAQ.
Espacially the Messaging DApp and Reddit like bulletin board are not very difficult to understand. Our third product — Data Portal for Web3 to provide encrypted data feedings to Web3 applications — is a bit more complicated, but this product also has a more advanced user group, namely blockchain developers.
All our products are on-chain, so fully decentralised and censorship free. This means everyone can use them. People will also be incentivized to use our platform, which is what #SocialFi is all about. Moreover, myMessage has a multi-chain approach, which also means that more communities will be involved.
Q5. Racial discrimination, violence and pornography are problems that networks and portals barely solve on their platforms. How involved is myMessage in relation to the content that users enter on its platform? How does your team control this content and in turn offer quality material?
Ans — The platform is free to use, but this obviously doesn’t mean verything will be tollerated. However, there is no central authority, which means users will be the ones flagging content and we will have a mechanism that will ban users who misbehave.
Q6. Can you tell us why you have decided to create MyMessage over the ZILLIQA network? What are the features of this network that make it perfect for the purpose of your project?
Ans — Zilliqa is a Layer 1 public blockchain that is very suitable for myMessage because of a couple things: low fees, high security (also on the smart contract level), high capacity, fast confirmation time and also the fact it is fairly eco-friendly compared to other blockchains.
Q7. Many projects that stand only show the best first impression, how do you maintain the sustainability of your project to attract many enthusiasts ?
Ans — We’ve raised $2.1M in our private sale rounds, which will give us a nice runway to build this out. Some really well-known VCs among them. Let me quickly find an overview.
